I've been asked to do makeup for a boudoir shoot in a few weeks. I know the general rules - no shimmer && don't over-contour. Does anyone have any additional tips or advice. This is my first booking and I want to make a killer impression (=

For a daytime look, use lighter makeup. As for a dramatic look, use that for night time. Good luck! :)

Michelle Phan did a video on you tube for getting your picture taken! Maybe that will help some?

Don't use foundation that has SPF (to avoid the white cast in the photos), use nude lipsticks & lip gloss, use false lashes

Boudoir shoots are usually aimed to be sexy vixen type photos so the key for make up is dramatic!

find out what kind of look they are going for. Boudoir can encompass a LOT of different looks. Pin up, natural, Victoria's Secret, etc. etc. That will really define what kind of makeup look you should aim for.

AIRBRUSH! In photoshoots if i have access to electricity i definitely airbrush. It gives the skin the most amazing finish. I've had great feedback from photographers too about their minimal need for retouching the photos.
Shimmer is fine, just depends on the type your using. Say a loose dust is fine as i often use a champagne colour for highlighting across the cheek bones. Looks great.
Boudoir - i think 1950's sexy. soft smokey eyes (through the socket) and deep red lips. use a lip liner and line just outside the natural lip line. this will give your model/ client a beautiful pouty lip. think Marilyn Monroe meets Dita Von Teese ;)
Hope this helps and good luck

I am not saying make her look like a drag queen but On film more makeup then normal so it shows up darker eye then you would usually have with a darker lip

Don't go too dark on the lip as if switched into black & white can come out looking black! Unless that's the look you want of course! X
