The hair and makeup are fine but I agree something a little less dressy is appropriate. you want to go for something a little cheaper then the first set of dresses. I've seen people wear sequence dresses that puff out a little and I've seen people wearing very cheap, cute but basic dresses bought from ardenes or stiches.

I had an Amy Whinehouse updo at my prom and I got so many compliments!
The curls everybody posted are beautiful but everybody wears their hair like that on such occasions... If I were you I would do something nobody else has!
