Hi ladies!
My 20th birthday is just over a week and I need a new dress. At 5'1 it's hard to find dresses that fit properly. Does anyone have any ideas where I can find some great dresses that aren't too expensive in Australia? I've checked out a couple of places online but I'm not a big fan of their styles. X

Are you looking for something more formal? Bridal shops tend to also sell cocktail dresses, which can be more forgiving for us on the shorter side. Plus, they often have pretty good deals on dresses that perhaps someone ordered for an event and canceled or overstock items.
I am not from Australia, so I can't really advise about any local shops, but maybe this can be a starting point if you don't have any other options? Happy early birthday hon! :)

Try websites like yesasia or other sites geared toward younger Asian women. I'm 5'0 and a size 0/2, so finding short dresses for me, dresses and skirts at all really, is a challenge. But clothing sites geared towards young adult Asian women have clothing that fit me properly a good majority of the time with no guess work. Some sites like those list the height of their models and the length of the gown which is always a huge help.
Other then that, bridal shops may be a good idea but be careful. I work at a bridal shop and some dresses look ok, others are a no go because you can tell they are meant for a slightly taller person.

Ally has really cute dresses for about $30, although it's not really formal wear...more kinda like a party or night out with the girls, I'm not sure what you're looking for exactly though.
