I was wondering when going to apply for MAC cosmetics, how much experience do you have to have? I?m great at doing my own makeup but not that great at others and too I don't know much about foundation because I don't wear it much. Should I still apply?

As a former M.A.C. Trainer, I can tell you that whether you wear foundation or not, or whatever your taste are for your own makeup, you should be open minded and able to do different styles of makeup for the client. I worked with many Artists in my region who loved their makeup in a neutral palette to those who preferred a dramatic approach. Be diverse. As for experience, it depends on your skill level. You should know how to comfortably complete a well applied makeup look.

Hope that helps!

It's videos on you tube about the hiring process and what they expect. I've been researching them because we are having a casting call here in MI on the 18 and I'm going. I found the videos on you tube helpful.

Ok thank you guys so much.

I'm always on YouTube looking for different ways to apply makeup and learn new things.

I know I'm open minded with the different styles. but not so sure about being as comfortable on others as I am with myself.

People who work for MAC or any other brand are primarily salespeople, not makeup artists. Companies care about having sales skills and experience and how much product you can push. Makeup application skills are great, but they are not as important as sales skills.

I worked freelance several years before working for Mac and the best advice I can give is just to practice on some friends and family of all types of skin, ethnicity and age. Also present them with a decent portfolio.
