So I got this new cream one from trader joes it's mangoe and I really like it. Otherwise I prefer the gel but for bikini cream I'd say is better.

Do NOT use regular shaving cream or soap down there! It will thrown off your ph balance which can cause thrush. Its imperitive that you use shaving gel specifically for that area. Also, make sure to shave with the grain, never against. Hope I helped! <3.

I use conditioner ONLY on the hairs as it softens them, also try exfoliating before so you have a smooth surface to work on :) then I shave with the grain, then against the grain (but be sure to stretch the skin as you do this)
Weird tip I found that really helps: pat talcum powder on the area after shaving, it keeps the area dry and I swear I've hardly seen any bumps 'down there' after following this routine!

Not sure about the best cream or gel to use, but make sure you're shaving towards the end of your shower. It'll give your hair time to soften up a bit in the warm water. Then shave in the same direction your hair grows. I get bumps if I shave against the grain. The razor that kaitlyn posted is also really good! It's super cheap and would definitely recommend. After shaving, try putting something on it like Kim said.
