Explain Undertones and how to tell what colors you are?

Until last November I never wore foundation, or blush and I am just now starting to try out lipstick. I would play with make up a lot when I was younger but I don't know much about it. I only used mascara and eyeliner/liquid liner for a long time, but I want to complete my look now that I am older. I read about lipstick and I have no idea what "undertones" are and how to tell which you are but I wanna make sure I am buying the right colors for my skin. Can someone explain to me what this means??

I know it applies to lipstick, but does it apply to blush, hair color, and eyeliner? I want to dye my hair for the 2nd time ever and I don't know what a good color is and I was wondering if knowing what your "undertones" were would help.

It applies to most things except for eyes, in my opinion, but it's not an complete-determining force. You can have a pink undertone and still wear an orangy-red lipstick, it may just be a little less flattering than a blue toned one. Anyway, there are a few different ways to tell, the easiest, of course, being to go to a makeup counter and be matched. But, if you want to try it on your own, here are the basic undertones: yellow, peach, beige(neutral), and pink. Yellow and peach are warm, beige is neutral, and pink is cool. Yellow is more common than you may think, and judging from your pictures, it's probably what you are. It's very common among tanner people. To give a basic idea, you can think of very yellow as being Mexican or Chinese, though I myself have yellow, though much more neutral, and I am neither of those things. Pink is generally very pale people, who have cool toned skin. An easy way to tell is to look at your veins on your wrist, and see if they are blue, green, or turquoise. Blue means cool, green means warm, turquoise means neutral. That should be sufficient until you go to a makeup counter, and I hope it helped! Yes, it helps with makeup, clothes, and hair to know undertone, but It's not *everything*.

Wow, thanks so much. I was unaware that Beautylish doesn't tell you when someone replies to a top you posted. I thought no one did, thanks a bunch I am half Filipino and Hispanic so I am probably yellow. I guess I will get myself checked thanks again! :)
