For some reason I can't ever get the eyeliner close enough to my eyelash help.

All you can do is keep on practicing. You'll get it eventually!

I use a automatic pencil to do it because its a lot smoother then a pencil and hurts less if poke my eye. then I go over it with liquid or pen. practice doesn't make it perfect but it sure as hell gets it close. lol.

I use liquid and you try to actually put it on my eyelashes a bit.

Use an eyeliner brush for more control than a traditional flimsy thin applicator. It's so much easier!
