My small toe nails are so rough and a bit black due to old injury when I was young. Any ways to get rid of it?

I would think to just let them grow out, but if they've been like that since you were young, that doesn't seem like an option. Sally Hansen has a nail repair polish that helps with decolouration of nails (like when they go yellow from wearing polish with no base coat). Maybe that could be of help to you?

I have the same issue, but on my big toes. The only thing that can possibly change it is to have your doctor remove the nail, and wait for it to grow back completely. However, if the damage is on the nail bed too (which it sounds like it is if the injury was old and they still look this way), it is unlikely that the nail will ever go back to normal. My doctor said to gently buff the ridges/uneven parts, then use nail polish to cover the discoloration if wearing sandals.
