In today society we live in people praise and worship thin woman. what about the full figure ones? I want to do a documentary on How today's society treat full figured woman. so when I Go back to school this summer I want to wear a body suit to make me more figured and see How people react to it then I want to turn it into a documentary. the moral I'm trying to say is people that's full figured get looked at in a horrible way and gets treated way different from a thin person. I'm saying beauty should depend on size but the heart. do you guys think it's a good idea? any suggestions? please help. thanks.

I think it's a great idea but you shouldn't ignore the fact that skinny girls have a hard time too not just full figured women. I've had PLENTY of "full figured" women call me names like stick or toothpick just because genetics made me naturally thin and it hurts just as much.

That's a great idea! But I also think you should get skinny people's point of view because we get a lot of name calling and people have asked me if I'm anorexic, which really hurts.

Tyra banks did something like that on her show before. Maybe you can look it up online and get some ideas

No offence to the thin girls, but can we not make this thread about yourself? It's about bigger women who face much more prejudice against society than skinny women. I'm not trying to say thin women are ugly and what not, but really...

It's not exactly a documentary but there's a movie similar to your idea. To be fat like me, her character has the same idea as you. Should check it out, it's a good movie! Might help with your idea.

@Dana M. We're not trying to make this thread about ourselves. We're trying to give her the advice she asked for. If she only focuses on "full figured" women it'll just be a video of full figured people feeling sorry for other full figured people which would just make the documentary biased and silly. And @maherline b. if you do this you should make sure it's actually about full figured women and not just unhealthy fat people because there is a difference. You wouldn't want to make it seem like you condone unhealthy life styles and habits.

Or maybe it'll be about full figured women discussing how they feel in society? I just hate when thin people bring up the hate they get when it's so minuscule compared to the problems that full figured women face. Also "make sure it's actually about full figured women and not just unhealthy..." lawd, I'm done with you lol.

Just giving her what she asked for Hun :* if she just wanted people to tell her it's just a great idea she would've said that lol and you act like name calling hurts a bigger person more and sorry but you couldn't be more wrong. Name calling and such hurts no matter what size someone is. She'll make a much bigger impact if she discusses how it affects ALL type of women since it does. And you have a lot of nerve saying that the hate someone gets is "minuscule" compared to someone else.

I'm definitely not saying their hate is minuscule. I'm just saying their problems are smaller compared to full figured ones in society. If you just do a quick google search starting out with "thin people are" you'd see all these positive adjectives. If you google "fat people are" there is justice a stream of negative opinions. That should tell you A LOT. I think this documentary would be a great place for bigger women to feel good about themselves as they are constantly shit on my society.

Lol you just keep contradicting yourself. And there are negative opinions about "fat people" because it isn't healthy to be fat. Unless someone has a medical issue as to why they are fat then they shouldn't even feel bad for themselves because they can change it. And there is a difference between full figured women and just fat people. And there are already a bunch of campaigns to make bigger women feel better about themselves. But what about the women that get picked on for naturally being a little too thin? Do their feelings not matter? I'm just saying a documentary about a woman's image no matter their size would be better because there are already plenty done about bigger women.

No, I haven't. Also, I'd like to apologize if any of my comments have come off as rude.
It also isn't healthy to be too thin but again, I don't see you pointing out that either. It also isn't healthy to smoke, drink too much, etc.but those people don't get as negative responses as fat people do. It's not ok to fat shame and treat them like they're bad people. It's actually a bit gross that you're sticking up for the shaming... There are campaigns, but it hasn't helped much. Of course their feelings matter, they could make their own documentary if they want to.

I agree with Lody.. I've been harassed since forever about being "too skinny" and being told to "go eat something" before I blow away in the next wind storm. It's still hurtful. With that being said, I also agree with dana in that full figured women are constantly ridiculed for their size. A full figured woman, in my opinion, is way more likely to be ridiculed for their size than a thin person. Like Em said, a good topic that would cover both groups would be something about how the media skews our perception of the body in general, not just full figured bodies. That way everyone is included and it gets ppl talking about the difficulties of having different body types.

I feel like a better topic would be body shaming across the board. If you focus primarily on one group you kind of take away what another group of women go through on a daily basis, and in a way enforce some sort of body shaming. I think both groups have it rough, and to only focus on one side of the story would take away from the point you're trying to make. It will also help you get some more perspectives, and it will allow you to try and help put an end on body shaming altogether. :)

If it helps I know Tyra did something about body image involving both males and females called circus of weight. There's also a documentary about girls in an eating disorder clinic (one of my personal favorites) called Thin. There's probably tons more, but those are the two involving body image that come to mind.

here's a link to a video from The Tyra Show that features only women judging each other based only on their bodies.
