I seriously cannot stop biting my nails. I've tried everything, I've used the nasty nail polish stuff but I just got used to the taste, I let them grow for a week but ended up ruining my hard work on the Friday, and I tried that trick where you paint your nails a pretty design so you won't want to bite them and it still didn't work. What else can I try? I'm sick of it by now :( Thank you ^^

There is this clear coat of nailvarnish you can apply over your nails, I can't rember what its called but when you go to bite your nails it tastes really disgusting! Sounds silly but I have not tried biting my nails ever since, good luck

I posted something almost identical to that and the suggestions I got were all to use the nasty nail stuff but the best suggestion I received was to soak my nails in warm water and try to push back my cuticles then to add some olive oil to each nail and massage it in for about a minute. She said it makes your nails look healthier when the cuticles are maintained and it helps get nice nails faster!! 😄

Think about all the dirt and bad stuff under your nails, that worked for me for a while. now I have acrylics to help me stop biting, so far so good(:

I was thinking of acrylics myself, but would that not damage the nailbed?

Maybe putting bandaids on will help? You'll get sick of looking at your fingers with bandages on them and you might be more motivated to stop. Or you could soak your fingers in vinegar. I've heard that works to make them taste bad. The only other thing I can think of is to distract yourself when you have the urge to bite your nails. Sit on your hands so you can't bite, and chew some gum. Your nails will be back to normal In no time 😄

Try replacing your nail biting by biting something else. I used to bite my nails and I tried chewing these pure liquorice sticks. I guess it worked now I can't stand putting my fingers in my mouth x

Most people bite their nails when they are bored so stay busy and dnt think about it. Try fidgeting instead.

Hey mandy, until January this year I literally had the worst nails and skin arpund it ever and none of the products or morivation worked. its almost like a form of ocd and I realised it was caused by stress or anxiety in things around me. it was only when I set myself targets and people helped by saying theyd withold things I really liked feom me that I felt pressure to do it...I combined just having things to do constantly and plasters on my worst fingers and found slowly it worked. then I started painting my nails to prevent anymore and now a good few months later I'm healing and my nails are long and I can show my hands again. its hard work but you can do it..occupy yourself and keep your hands busy.

Some garlic on your nail polish should help you and keep you away from bitting. Note, the bad thing is that it doesn't only taste like garlic...y kind of smells a liiiiiittle bit.

Okay I used to have this too :/
First, wear a rubberband and tell a family member or friend to stretch it and smack your hand with it whenever you bite. You'll then start associating the biting with the pain, and it'll make you bite less. Also, chew gum a lot, and keep yourself busy. Always moisturize your hands, and try to keep them as clean and neat as you can. That's what helped me :)

I got acrylics, and I havent bit them in a while. I replied to this post a bit back, and now I'm just posting a followup. what I'm doing is as my acrylics grow out, I'm fileing (sorry if thats misspelled) down the acrylic over my nail as that little rut fofms between the acrylic and my cuticle, the filing makes the rut less noticeable and your nails stay protected as your still in the process of breaking the habbit. good luck (:
