I've done hair chalking before but it always comes out stiff. How can I get rid of this? Also what colors work on dark brown hair?

First get the chalk wet, then straighten or curl the strand.

Try Anastasia chalk! I just bought a few and they are really pigmented! They have bright colors I use them and they are bright on my red hair! Put some on and finish with hair spray and it will last all day.

I second the Anastasia chalk suggestion. I just bought some from Beautylish two weeks ago, and the product stayed on for a couple of days without any hairspray.
