Heatless Spiral Curling Wand Type Curls?

I've been curling my hair with a (diy) curling wand for about a month, and I havent been using ANY heat protectant.. is there a way I could get these same curls heatless?

you could try rag rolling or foam curlers!

I've been getting good results with those Curlformers; you have to work from wet but I've found that because they are made from a plastic mesh the hair dries much faster than it would with other methods.
