I've been coloring my hair red fow the last few months and I can't find a good shampoo and conditioner to help keep the color longer. I know red is a hard color to keep in your hair but I feel that it's fading way to fast.
I've used the John Frieda for red hair and it seemed to work a little but it seemed to make my hair dry. Once that was gone I switched to my dove daily moisturizer and since that's not made for colored hair it made it fade that much faster.
So long story short, what is a good brand of shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair? Or any tips to help with red hair would be great! Thanks :)

I do color myself. I went to my hair dresser the first time to get an idea of what color I wanted but I couldn't justify spending that much when there is a Sally's right down the street.

I've been using biolage color care for years and its worked the best for me so far (I've colored my hair red since I was 15). I only wash my hair every-other day at MOST, but I go longer if I can. Also, another trick I use is to color it just a shade darker red than I really want and then when it does start to fade it becomes more of the color I want. And a little product to give it a shine helps combat that dullness it sometimes gets.

I've been dying my own hair red for a little over a year now, and I have really struggled to find the right shampoo and conditioner as well. After a lot of research and experimenting with my own hair, I discovered that the whole sulfate hype is true! You have to be careful with shampoos, because even though some claim to be sulfate free, they do indeed contain sulfates. Healthy Sexy Hair has a really great color care shampoo that is truly sulfate free. Sulfates will not only strip your hair of healthy oils, but also of color. So be careful and always check the ingredients. Just because it says "color care" does not mean it is color friendly.
