What kind of Ombre?

I have blonde hair but its been looking a lot darker and almost brownish lately. I was thinking of getting highlights but I also really like ombre hair. I'm trying to decide if I should get the ends died darker or lighter. The problem is that I havent really seen many people with light roots and dark ends so I'm not sure if it would look okay. But I'm also worried that if I get the ends dyed lighter it won't really be effective because of my already light-ish hair. Have any of you seen light roots with dark ends? Post a picture! My hair is the same color througout right now.

I think the idea of a reverse ombr? would look awesome! I have seen it before and it looks really pretty, I say go for it!
