I think it would be easiest if you heated it up to a liquid state so you can apply it (otherwise it might apply a little clumpy). The best thing about coconut oil is that you can leave it in your hair as long as you want. The longer, the better. You can put on a shower cap and sleep in it over night. And it washes out easily enough just make sure you get it all out if you apply it on your scalp (which you definitely should)

I use it all over my body. You can melt it in a hot water bath and I leave it in over night. You can leave it in only a half hour out as long as you want. I also put some in my bath and soak in it.

But make sure it us the organic coconut oil. It is more expensive but it makes all the difference. Also you can take a Tbsp if it orally every day and it will do great things fir your while body plus its a natural energy source. It really is a miracle product.
