Are You A Beauty in the Military?

I've been wondering for all you Beauties in the military, do you have regulations on the type of makeup you're allowed to wear in uniform?

Are there looks that you do on a daily basis in uniform? Do you dress differently when in civilian clothes?

Do you have any tips for other beauty junkie military women out there who still want to express themselves while in the service?

I'm in the air force. They are really strict about makeup. Most women including myself don't even bother wearing makeup to work to avoid any kind of drama that comes with wearing "too much" makeup. If anything you'll see tinted moisturizer and mascara but that's about it.

As far as dressing outside of uniform, I try to show my personality. I try to be feminine yet edgy because the uniform is so bland and doesn't shoe any type of body shape.

For other women, check with your command and see what they think about makeup at work. Some will let you wear foundation and winged liner. Every place is different.

I am a veteran now but I did almost 6 years army. Its fine as long as its natural. No dramatic or colorful looks.

Also, no shimmery eyeshadow...even in a natural color..I had a bad experience with that back in the day lol

That's so interesting!

What happened to you Damarla if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks for answering Damarla! I'm actually not planning on joining the service, I just think its an interesting perspective that women don't usually discuss and women in the service are such important people to society that it's interesting to know how they are treated in terms of getting dolled up.

I am in the Air Force and like they said they are strict. However, its good to come in on holiday parties all dolled up and your coworkers are all stunned at how different you look OUT of uniform lol. I am a jet engine mechanic and even without makeup a lot of guys I speak with cant imagine me being in that field. Even though I wear my combat boots and deploy like the men, I still LOVE my beauty products! :)) I come on here all the time looking at new things I can do. Advice to other service-woman is just go natural on a day to day basis, its better for your skin anyway as long as your moisturize. One days we have to be in service dress i would say wear natural brown shades if your going to do your eyes that is a matte color and mascara. When it comes to hair, a few of the braids on this site are appropriate to wear in uniform as long as its not too "trendy". The military definelty does prevent us from being feminine at times, but it comes with the territory. It's on those days off when we can go all out & suprise people hehehe ;) Thanks for asking this question Jasmine!
