I'm applying for makeup in a few colleges and I have to have a porfolio. Whenever I take photos of the makeup I've done, they don't seem to come up properly, like the colours etc. I've tried taking them in daylight, with a flash and without a flash etc. Also, my camera is 12 mega pixels. I'd also not like to edit the crap out of them. Any advice would be appreciated!

Don't use any flash. Try to take a pictures in daylight. It really helps if you'll take the pictures with camera on stand. If you don't have stand, try to keep camera stable with your hands. And of course, take pictures with macro options on (they will be sharp and detailed). How about colours - every camera just "eat" them more or less. Here it helps some graphic programs as Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop just to increase balance of colours.

Oh, and take pictures in front of the window (but not when sun shines in front of you).
