So I never straighten/curl/blow dry my hair since in trying to grow it out and I wash it every day but today I had a wedding to go to so I curled my hair. While I was washing my hair I noticed a wet dog smell, I shampooed again but my hair still smelled. I'm letting my hair air dry right now and I can still smell the wet dog smell?? does anyone know what's going on? I feel disgusting right now :/

I'm not sure but if you are trying to grow your hair out I suggest you don't wash your hair everyday mabye try every second day

You should apply a hair product that smells good. that way it won't smell bad.

I don't know about your type of hair, but with my hair I only wash it every second day as I've been told by a few people that washing every day can remove natural oils from hair.

I'm wondering if its your water making that smell maybe? And if not the only thing I can think of is using a baking soda mixture to deodorize if scented things aren't helping :/

If the curling iron you used is new the smell may have come from that and if you didn't use a heat protectant the heat may have damaged your hair. I've had a similar thing happen to me before.

It's prolly because you never use heat! Try some good smelling leave in conditioners to help with the smell! And when your trying to grow out your hair don't wash it every day. It strips your hair's natural oils. The more days between washing your hair the better!

Do you live somewhere with hard water, or water from a well? We always smelled like our water softener growing up, which is kind of wet-dog-esque if you aren't used to it.
