I've had eczema as long as I can remember, all over my body and face. Every summer it gets extremely bad because of the heat. I use cetaphil constantly and daily, it helps with the dryness, but the red patches never seem to disappear.
Also I went running the other day, it was very hot out, and I was directly in the sunlight, and now my arms have tiny little bumps all over, that itch and turn bright red after the shower, this happened a lot last summer too. I'm wondering if it's a reaction to sweating or maybe a sun allergy?
I don't have health insurance so I'm really trying to avoid going to the dermatologist
Anyone have any advice?

I have had patches all over my body and even my son has them I use aquaphore which is a bit greasy but I noticed a huge difference in my skin and the texture. If you use a little after you get out of the shower at night I think it will help.

Thanks :) and @Yumi, I wasn't wearing SPF, but the first few times it started happening was a year ago in florida when i had sunblock on so i thought it was a reaction with the heat and sweat and sunblock or something... but it's occurring without any spf on too. It itches and gets dry and irritating... I'm clueless to what it could be.

I have extremely sensitive, and eczema-prone skin since as long as I can remember. My primary care doctor prescribes me an ointment that contains a steroid for when my skin flares up. I don't know the name of the prescription, but under my insurance and everything, its like, $5 for a huge tube of it. I can put on a thick layer at night, and by morning my skin has drastically change. Within two or three days it will be gone completely.
It's totally worth seeing your doctor about. I'm extremely sensitive to sun, heat, and nickel. Belt buckles, cheap jewelry (and recently, even the pin keeping my nametag on at work!) make my skin break out! Ugh!!!

I have a patch on the back of my neck.. it's probably been there for 5 years, and it's always just been that small area. When I asked my doctor, he told me to buy over-the-counter ointment. Recently I have noticed it is spreading upwards on my neck and toward my scalp. Is it normal for it to spread? I didn't have this when I was younger so it's fairly new to me. I think I'm going to see my doctor about it and ask what may be causing it to spread.

I've had eczema since I was very young and I use Cortizone-10 (with Aloe). I put it on at night and in the mornings whenever it acts up and not only does it get rid of the itch, but it lessens the discoloration or redness. Plus, it's cheap and you can buy it at any grocery or drug store.

I have eczema too , and from my experience , sweat and sun is a lethal combination ! When you go running try wearing a long sleeved shirt that inst clingy to your skin, and when you arrive home use a clean towel to pat dry the sweat before you take a shower, while you're in the shower use LUKEWARM water (never hot, it makes it worse !) , and afterwards use your moisturizer (although i do recommend using aquaphor) and try not to touch it ! Eventually it will calm down , ohh and remember to always wash your hands THOROUGHLY anytime you directly touch any area of your skin with eczema , this will prevent spreading it !....hope that helps !:)

I hate to say this but u need a dermatologist because unless u are not moisturising eczema is usally worse in the winter. Eczema is a condition caused by dry skin that gets overly irritated when sweat and bacteria gets involved when u say u have little red bump that is a sign of infection forming and what needs to happen is u need to get it under control the reason u are so irritated in the warmer months is due to lack of proper moisterizing . And as far as no insurance if u go to a derm and they see what u have going on they will give u reduced rates which equates to medicare rates and in my opinion by the time u go to the drugstore to buy all these ointments and creams u will hyave paid for one visit at a reduced rate and the Rx meds involved to treat this are generic so u wont spend alot on the meds either but the differnce is u will have relief and control

I cannot stress this enough and it's going to seem strange but, Japanese water therapy works for me. I've had eczema for most of my life and this is the only natural remedy that works well. I have only just started so I can't testify that it will cure the eczema but it is working. The therapy consist of drinking between 650ml - 1.5L of water as soon as you get up. It's not pleasant and you might feel unwell but try it for at least 10 days and you'll feel/see the difference. Google Japanese water treatment. It's worth a try!

I suffer from Eczema as well. I use Johnsons Baby Products such as their oils and creams to calm the itching and cut back on the dryness. Saint Ives Oatmeal and Shea Healing Body Lotion is good for every day use. Calamine lotion is n
medicinally used for eczema. You can get it at a Rite Aid or Drug Store/SuperMarket. I recomnend it for nightly use.

I have bad eczema on my ankles, and I started using Neosporin eczema cream. In a few uses I saw results and the itching stopped and the dryness stopped and it's improving! I think best results are after a warm bath or shower to make the skin softer, apply the cream, then I put socks on for the night. I get great results even if I don't do this first, too!
