I live in a small town where your only shopping options are walmart and well.. walmart. I have a yellowy tone to my skin and all foundations I try leave me looking a little orange/pink. what brands should I try? I also have oily, problematic skin. I would like something providing medium to extreme coverage. Does anything like that even exist in walmart?!

Have you considered ordering online for makeup?

yes, but I'm weary of it because everyone may make the same color palette but sometimes they don't always look the same. ):

i would try maybelline's dream mousse foundation. the one i have provides medium coverage. try mixing two different colors to get a better effect! also, the walmart brand hard candy has some really good color correcting primers you could try. :)

Maybelline Fit Me may also work. The shades ending in "0" are more yellow-based.

Have you tried Revlon ColorStay?
The online brand I really love and matched my skin was Meow Cosmetics. It's mineral make up, and the shades can be a little intimidating at first (86 shades!), but you can try samples and what not.
If I'm not mistaken most online brands sell samples which is fairly cheap. This may be a better option than buying full size drug store brands that you will only once or twice.

Hahaha, I also live in small town, North Carolina. On the west side. Honestly, I would just invest in something from Sephora. Yes, that would mean buying online if you don't even have a JCSephora in your town. We didn't get one until last year. If it turns out the foundation doesn't work for you, you can still send it back and get something different for free shipping. Just don't throw out the form. Keep it, fill it out, and send it back with the package.
And I'd suggest listing the foundations you've tried so people don't start suggesting foundations you may have already tried.

Have you tried the L'Oreal True Match liquid foundation? I'm VERY olive, and it's one of the only drug store foundations with an olive enough tone for me. It also happens to be great for oily skin.
Also, depending on the foundations you've tried, oily skin can make some foundations oxidize and turn orange.
