This is normal when I got my lip pierced it got swollen for about the first two weeks I switch to a longer bar and the swelling went down but once your lip fully heals you'll have no problems with swelling or pain.

Ice is a good idea also you can gargle salt water but make sure the water is warm.

Oh and sea salt worked for me.

The sea salt water should help for infections and also prevent infection.

Mouthwash to clean the inside and a gentle soap for the outside. that's what I did when I got my Monroe done.

Swelling is normal for all piercing a And everyone is different in the amount of time it takes for their bodies to heal. The mouthwash, salt water rinse is the best. Also diluted dial soap and a smidge of neosporin on the outside. Take a shot glass and fill with the warm salt water suction and hold onto your skin around the piercing and tilt back once you've got a seal on it and hold for like 30 seconds. Never apply ice directly to the skin. Always tough it it with clean hands only or not at all. If you smoke rinse with mouthwash after each time and just leave it alone. Don't mess with it with your tongue at all. I had venom piercings in my tongue and ripped them both the first night. Horrible experience. Lol.

Swelling is normal but be careful with the stud. I had my lip pierced with a stud that didnt allow enough room for my lip to swell and the skin on the inside started growing around the actual stud which made the healing process worse! I ended up having to take it out. Just make sure its lenght-y enough.

Lol if a professional didnt pierce it then what did you really expect would happen?
The bar is probably too short to allow for the swelling and it would definitely be infected if it was some crappy home job.
Don't touch it with dirty fingers.
Its meant to swell for a few days but my lip piercings never swell up that much.
You could have hit a vein, if it keeps bleeding/won't heal then that'd be the case and you have to take it out.

Well the person that pierced it has done many many piercings before lol and I went to a tattoo shop here and bought a long bar for the swelling it was just my first piercing and was not sure on what to expect lol... And the good thing it's not bleeding at all or no sign of it either :)... But thanks for the advice

Well, you should be washing it and keeping it clear of bacteria.
Also, try taking some Ibuprofen for the swelling and pain.
Contact the person who pierced you, and ask them for their advice. (:

Go to awfulmodifications.tumblr.com and see what they say- if you aren't familiar with tumblr you can add /ask to the end of the URL to message them.
You should probably take it out though. Chances are, you didn't have the correct placement and you wouldn't want it to heal and leave a mark (lips leave marks) in the wrong spot forever.
I'm restraining from being rude and chewing you out for doing it yourself. There are so many ways it can go wrong and I don't want to be bitchy :( I'm worried for ya. Clean it with a salt water spray not hydrogen peroxide or alcohol- both lead to scarring. Also, get chamomile tea bags and soak it until the bags cool that'll help with the swelling and pain. I hope it works out for you hun :S
