Can someone explain to me what is the differences between a regular eye pencil and a kohl eye pencil?

Jacqueline is it ok to use a kohl pencil as a liner if you set it with a powder shadow?? Because I smudge soo much.. I normally do?? Is that normal??

I think another important difference to note about Kohl too is that it's a lot more gentle on the eyes than some other waxy pencils, so I prefer to stick to kohl for waterlining or tightlining!
