I'm currently trying to grow my hair... hopefully down to about waist length... atm it's about mid upper back (so bra strap level lol) but progress is slow.
I dye my hair black but try to condition it regularly, only wash it about twice/three times a week and don't do heat styling often...
does anyone have any tips to help keep it growing stronger?

If you take biotin you HAVE to drink a lot of water or you will break out. Also, don't take biotin if you're taking other vitamins as to many vitamins can be bad for your health.
I'm trying the inversion method right now, which is said to give you an inch to half an inch in a week. So far it's actually kinda working. Massage your head for 3 minutes, touch your toes or do a stance where your head is facing the floor so the blood is rushing to your head for two minutes, and then stand up and run your head again for two minutes. It gets the blood flowing to your head. You're supposed to do it one week for a month. Any more and your hair gets use to it.
If that's to much, just make sure to massage your scalp with tea tree oil or peppermint oil a few times a week so the blood is flowing to your scalp.
Make sure to both eat and drink healthy foods as your hair normally reflects what you eat.
If you dry your hair with a towel, do it with a t-shirt instead: it's not as harsh on your hair and dries it faster.
Try to deep condition your hair once a week.

Basically avoid using lots of heat when styling and overloading on products. Try to wash your hair every second day instead if everyday and before you wash your hair, spend a few minutes massaging your scalp and the roots of your hair. Invest in a good shampoo and conditioner as well as some leave in conditioner treatment. If you like, you could also try getting a hair mask to use once a week or something :) Also, get the ends regularly trimmed to keep split ends at bay. As for your diet and any supplements... Make sure you're drinking lots of water and foods that contains lots of omega oils like salmon and vegetables like avocados :) you can actually buy vitamin supplements specifically for hair and nail health, you would just have to ask at a chemist or drug store :) hope this helps you a little... good luck! :D
