Gel- less damaging, more natural looking, can't really be taken off at home, shiny, etc.
Acrylic- bulkier aka less natural looking, more damaging, can be taken off at home.
Most ppl will recommend gel over acrylic

Acrylics make my nails really weak afterwards , however gel are ok. The difference between the two aren't drastic its just how its applied and what its made out of x :)

Gel lasts me about 2 weeks.. I love french acrylics but they really do damage your nails and with acrylics they grow out unless your going to get them redone.

Terribly sorry to say this girls but if your gel nails ripped off, you went to an extremely bad salon... mine last for over 4 weeks, probably even longer but I let them be filled in every 4 weeks. I would defenitely recommend gel nails! they're super strong and natural looking.

Definitely gel and you can remove it at home very easily by soaking a cotton ball in acetone and placing it on your finger and wrapping it with foil paper and allow it to soak for a few minutes. Acrylic damages your nails.

Gel lasts about 1-2 weeks longer than acrylic and is more expensive. gel is very hard to come off even if youre rough on your hands. the gel polish doesn't chip or flake as reg nail polish does after a while. as for looks...they look about the same of you have a good nail person.

Gels! Acrylics are so bad for your nails, I once acrylics come off they'll wreck your nails. You can remove the colours on gels to put your own on with no acetone nail varnish remover.
