They're real by benefit is only good for length. Loreal is eh not really. For drug store try prestige my blackest lashes or something like that comes in a black tube and its about 3-4 bucks. Coming from someone who doesn't like drugstore make up. For high end try and I mean you'll love Estée Lauders scrumptious volume. For both length and volume try urban decays big fatty.

I started buying mascaras at age 10.. way too young, but anyways, it has given me lots of experience. I would say, for volume? Dior's Diorshow, Loreal voluminous million lashes and also the L'Oreal Paris volume shocking mascara, that had the ad with Aishwarya rai, the Indian model/actress. I don't think they sell this anymore... But DAMN!! It gave lots of volume.. People always asked me if my lashes were real or not when wearing it.
