Very, VERY tacky. If it makes you feel attractive, feel free, and don't let anyone tell you what you should or shouldn't wear. However, my opinion on the subject is that leggings as pants are tacky and look cheap.

Depends on what.. I wear leggings ALL the time, like lululemons and forever 21 with sweaters and boots. But wearing leggings with like an aeropostale tee shirt and sneakers is just a big NO.

I am a fan of the Ponte Pants which in my opinion are high waisted leggings made with a thicker material. those are the best, can he dressed up or down and looks and feels great.

As long as you don't have underwear lines and nothing is showing in the front, also a longer shirt makes them look cuter. I love to wear them with flat boots and a slouchy sweater

I think it definitely depends on the occasion and outfit as a whole because they can "cheapen" a look. sometimes when I see women in them it looks like they ran out of clean pants and went to their gym drawer.
I also believe that you should cover your bum some how. either with a tunic blouse, dress or oversized sweater etc.
