Hiya! So, as you can probably tell I'm a newbie to this website, so excuse me if I'm a bit clueless, haha.
I'm an 18 year old student, I'm starting a Theatrical and Media Level 3 Makeup course in September, I was just wondering if anyone else is doing/has done this course?
Also, I need to start building up my makeup kit - I have a few ideas mapped out, but as regards brands and, for example, shades of foundations/concealers/pressed powders etc.. I'm clueless!
Any advice would be really appreciated, thank you :)

For brands, I'd very highly recommend Too Faced, Urban Decay, Kate Von D... Buxom, Smashbox... really anything at Sephora. but my recommendations are as follows *sorry if this gets lengthy :) I ADORE makeup* Kat Von D has some great darker toned palettes, and you can often find them in Clearance. she also has some great blushes that are long lasting *my personal pick is Heartogram*also, she has nice lipsticks. Too Faced has several nice palettes, namely Too Faced loves Sephora, & Return of Sexy palette. Buxom has some top quality eye liners with an unfortunately small color selection. Urban Decay... you can't go wrong with, they're of good quality and broad selection *but I ABHORE that damned Naked palette* Smashbox has a great little kit for $29 that has a full size mascara, blush, lipstick, and lipgloss *available only at Ulta*Benefit makes wonderful everything, there's nothing by them I wouldn't buy. finally, MAC has wonderful lipstick at a TRULY competative price. My top picks right now are Riri Woo, Riri Boy, and Viva Glam Nicki 2....hope that helped, I'm happy to answer any questions!!

Okay I don't have product suggestions, but as you know theatrical makeup is totally different than day to day stuff. Just buy some empty palettes and you can melt your shades of product into them so you're not carrying a million tubes or bottles. Get a variety of brushes and cleaning materials. Then any extras based on the show: spirit gum, aging products, etc. Good luck, sorry I don't have perfect answers this is just from shows I've been in.

Not sure if there are Ulta in the UK, but I do believe they ship internationally :)
good luck! and try not to cheap out on lower end brands, if your wanting to make this a career, invest in the best! :)))

You can get cheap, but apparently pretty decent eyeshadow palettes from BH cosmetics, Costal Scents, or eBay. At the very least, are good for playing around with.
