Are you being serious?

Don't mean to sound rude, but why do you want to be "scene" ?

You shouldn't force yourself to be something. If you are 'scene' then it would come naturally to you, if you have to go out of your way to do things you wouldn't normally do then it's not you. Just go with what you feel comfortable with, people will see and appreciate the real you :)

like zoe c said. if your asking for advice on what you have to do, then its not truley you. do whatever you like, and what you think looks good. you shouldnt try to be like everyone else within a certain group of people. & im sorry to say this, but no matter what "world" you are in, people are going to judge you. and the truth is, people are going to judge someone whos trying to be something theyre not and trying to fit in with a group than they would judge someone who is just being themselves.

Autumn D and Zoe C are completely right. But I bet youre still young and it's obviously okay to transition through several phases (as if you guys never tried to be something that naturally didnt come to you...we wake up in the morning and style ourselves a certain way because we want to look that way...dont deny this >_> ) to find what you are most comfortable with. I remember being a 'scene' kid 4 years ago...probably some of the most embarrassing pictures you can find of me. We grow out of things and keep evolving, that's being a transient creature for you.
But anyways Meghan, don't be discouraged by our little rants..go ahead and be whatever you want. Only thing is you WILL find harsh, judgemental people in absolutely every clique but I hope you find like minded people for the meanwhile and have fun, don't stress. I know how it feels to want to be scene and have big hair and completely transform yourself..but practice self acceptance. Not everyone can look like Kiki Kannibal..and a lot of people have and do get over wanting to look like that anyways.

People change all the time-- it's part of the process of finding yourself and learning who you want to be. I totally understand being drawn to something out of instinct, without knowing how to embody it or how to become a part of it. I remember really clearly wanting to achieve a look or be part of a scene without even know how to describe it with words.

As you're leaning into who you want to become the best thing is to have a listening energy. By that, I mean, be really tuned into your curiosity. If you find a band that you like and you think represents the lifestyle you're interested in, find out all about them. Don't just listen to the record, find them online, see what other kids who like that band listen to, and check out those bands and see what their supporters listen to and like. With a little research, you'll uncover a whole new world. It's really inspiring! If you want to carry that through to your look, then study the things that make you curious about the looks from that scene and try them on. You can always try it in the privacy of your room to see if it feels good to you. If you like it, then you can start to incorporate the elements that work for you into your daily look.

I'm also a big believer in fake it till you make it! You may not feel 100% at home in your new look, but if you're super into it, that uncertainty might be really exciting! I know that sometimes I feel the most alive when I'm challenging myself to expand my idea of who I am.

The trick is to let go of being concerned about what other people think-- an easy thing to say but much harder to do. If you can make that happen, it will free you from feeling confined by what other people expect of you. It also helps to allow yourself not to be perfect. The concern about being perfect and caring what others think are the biggest killers of creativity. If you learn a new language, you have to be ok with making silly sounds and messing up! Same goes for growing into new looks and into a new you. You have to accept that sometimes you're just going to get it wrong and be ok with it. Eventually, you'll start to get it more right than wrong.

Taking on a new look is all about confidence. You want to wear the look, not have the look wear you. Best of luck to you! You can always post your experiments to Beautylish! We love a crazy look!!!

thank you all and its ok im fine with the little rants

I don't think there's anything wrong with transitioning looks. I did it SO much when I was younger. In 3rd grade, I was a tomboy with hair past my butt! In 6th grade, I was a prep. It 7th, I was goth. In 8th, I don't know what I was because I just didn't really care and wore whatever!

There's nothing wrong with changing your look, but don't change who YOU are. That's the important thing. Also, just do what you want and don't ditch your old friends for new ones! That's never cool. Friendships aren't worth losing over makeup, clothes, or music.

That all being said, I love the scene look too for some reason. I'd never do it on myself, but there's something attractive about it to me. There are actually a lot of tutorials on Youtube if you want to look them up. But I have to be 100% honest with you about something:

THE WAY THEY DO THEIR HAIR IS HORRIBLE FOR IT.

Constant teasing, dying, bleaching, spraying. It's horrible. It will leave you with split ends and a fried mane all around. PLEASE be careful! Don't do color at home! Go to a salon!!!

As for makeup, I've seen that it's very colorful and bold, which is tons of fun to play with. Just make sure you're careful in your application and that you're keeping your tools clean.

I hope you have fun trying out new things, just don't lose "you" in the process!

I've always been intrigued by the "scene" look, but I mostly have a hipster/bohemian vibe going on usually. I love everything funky, colorful, alternative, weird, etc. Or preppy/normal/whatever label you choose. I love countless fashions/makeup, etc. I rock elements from a myriad of looks. I've found some fantastic punky/goth, etc. photos on googleimage, and some pretty cool how to scene makeup tuts on youtube. I love subcultures and with a "scene" look you can add raver or cybergoth elements, steampunk or victorian goth looks too. Its all about adding peices that you like to create your own, creative look. And no matter what, you, yourself will make any look unique and one of a kind. I've found Japanese streetfashion to be extremely awesome and they have some pretty awesome looks- lolita goth, etc. Anyway, have fun! I love all kinds of looks, so I would be flexible if I were you, and wear/do whatever you want, no matter what the label is. Don't limit yourself to just one look- have fun and experiment! <3 Also- Sugarpill, Kat Von D and a gazillion other makeup brands can help you achieve an edgy look. I like smokey eyes, really exaggerated cat eyes, nude lips, pale skin, or drag looks for a "scene" look.

Also- just investigate subcultures- "goth" has so many subcultures- industrial, etc. every look has even more looks that spring from it. I love how punk could be linked to rudeboy look, teddygirls and teddyboys and on and on. You can add looks from the 20s, 30s, and on. Sorry, just sharing some ideas! <3
