Look like an artist to me.. and no you don't need a dang diploma or piece of paper to tell you that you're a qualified makeup artist. even the first ppl that became "makeup" were just like you.. they didn't have no degree..

I believe you need talent and passion to be a make up artist but it doesn't hurt to have the experience and teachings of a make up academy especially for reference most people prefer to go to a certified mua than to a self taught one! keep up the good work if you are good and have an good portfolio that will give the certification of your work :-D.

Usually if someone has a certificate they say "trained MUA" or "accredited MUA". I worked at Ulta for 5 years and none of us were "certified" but we were MUA. Watch a make over show and they will distinguish if they are "acctedited".

Ok, last word was to be ACCREDITED! Opps ;) and, in cosmetology school we learned MU but there was no actual certificate or else wise saying we had the training. I don't think you have to make it a point to tell clients you didn't go to school or get a piece of paper. (free lance MUA)

To be a accredited makeup artist your suppose to have appearance enhancement license cosmotology,Esthetics, makeup school , however you can still be called a Mua even if you have not you do not need any license to work for mac , ulta or any other of those places all you need is talent and know how, your able to be insured even without a license if your doing makeup and being paid for it you have clients an your out there doing your thing your a mua we all no some of the best mua have never stepped foot in a class as long as you have insurance your fine I had clients years before I ever went to school for anything I felt I was a makeup artist then an I'm one now

Rae Morris started out as a hair dresser who was caught applying lipstick to Naomi Campbell by the papz (I think it's something like that) and she didn't have a degree. Just state that you're a self taught MUA and always represent your portfolio or business card where potential clients can check your work out.

I completely agree with Charley. Having credentials doesn't make you any better than a self-taught make up artist, and from the looks of your work, you're an artist! Sure it might look better if there's some sort of diploma and/or credential, but it wouldn't stop me from hiring you. Keep at it, girl!

No! You don't need a diploma! I assist a makeup artist that never even went to school for makeup and she's been doing makeup for four year doing music video and photo shoots! If you wanna be a makeup artist then that's what you are and what you should call yourself. :)
