So my best friends quincenera is coming up, and I told her I was going to get something very very special for her. She told me it had to be makeup since I'm her 'makeup artistish" friend :) So anyways I have 100$ to spend on just makeup and I want to get versitile, natural-looking, easy to use stuff. I already decided on the Too Faced Beautiful Dreamer collection.

But what are some other good sets or products to get for a beginner?

I LOVE Kat Von D's Tattoo Liner in Trooper. It's a liquid liner that literally stays on ALL day. I'm also a fan of the Naked and Naked2 Palettes from Urban Decay. ELF brushes are a must. Some of them are just so good for the price. Why not get her some nail polishes too? Those kinda fall into the "makeup" category... maybe. OPI and Essie are my favorites. Essie just released some AMAZING Summer 2012 colors that are so beautiful. I love Mojito Madness and Bikini So Teeny.

I would go for little makeup kits that way you can get a ton of things for her that she can try out! For instance like how Benefit had the trio of high beam, benetint, and cha cha tint!

Definitely start her off w/ tools, since that's one of the hardest things for beginners to grasp when starting w/ makeup. A few eye/face brushes, tweezers, lash curler and a good quality eye shadow palette to get them started. =D

I personally would put together a goodie/gift basket for them with individual pieces I know are quality VS a pre-made set just so I can weed out the duds and filler items. Spend on the tools, and collect pigment samples from MAC to supplement extra things w/o going over budget.  =)

the NYX all i ever wanted box is a GREAT beginner box. it comes with lipglosses, eyeshadows, blushes and bronzers. I got it for my sister with some ecotools brushes and it was great to start her collection! you can find it on amazon.com or urban outfitters might still have it.
