I heard they were invented in the Middle East. They were worn by men and the low crotch is because it is believed that the prophet Mohammed is supposed to be reborn by a man and this way he'll be born inside the pants and will not fall to the ground and get hurt. Just what I heard! Don't know if it's true 😊

No Dorthe its not true. they are not worn by middle eastern men. they wore kurta pajama. like a long loose shirt below knees and loose pants.
