Hair Stylist Question! -- Pravana Silk Degrees Demi-Permanent Shine Treatment

is anyone familiar with this product? i bought it and would love to use it on my hair...but the directions say to mix it with the pravana shine serum & i didn't realize that when purchasing. is this absolutely necessary, or can i use just the silk degrees on it's own? i would love to be able to use it without buying additional product, but if i have to get it in order for the shine treatment to work, i will do so...i can't help but think that it will work just fine on it's own...but just with less potential shine? i know you can use the silk degrees clear mixed with other pravana colour (it said so on their website), and it said nothing about a shine serum in that scenario...so it confused me a bit. is the silk degrees shine treatment useless on it's own? i hope not!
