I love red lipstick. However, I've never used lipliner to go along with it. I know this might sound silly, but is there a way to find out the best fitting lipliner for a red lipstick? Also, is a lipliner absolutely necessary?

Try to pick a colour closest to the red lipstick. I personally don't really use it, but it's good to use so that your lipstick can last longer. With lipliner the lipstick shouldn't bleed out of your lips, and you also have the option to fill in your lip with lipliner and then lipstick over top. I saw this one product that looked really neat at the drugstore and it was a clear lipliner specifically for making your lipstick more vibrant and to make it not bleed from your lips. I can't remember the name of it.

NYX make really good lipliners. I would get a liner that is as close as possible to the lipstick, if not then a little bit darker is ok too.

I think it's necessary, it makes for much cleaner edges and the result is more polished. It makes the lip last much longer too.

I actually have been just trying to find a nude liner, one warm toned, one cool. It seems silly to be to buy 10 lipliners to match each lipstick (just my opinion, and wallet speaking) so maybe try to find one of those and see how you like it?

Something close to red nyx has great ones personally I like to go a shade darker than red so sometimes I use burgundy for a subtle velvet look but there's many choices to choose from.

Urban decay and make up forever both at sephora make a "clear" lip liner that is universal so you can use it with any shade! They are 19$ and totally worth it.

You can also change the color of your lipstick by using a different colored liner underneath. I have red, purple, and black lipliners. Mixed with red, pink, or magenta lipsticks, I have a HUGE range of color options just be combining the liners and lipsticks. It is an inexpensive way to increase your range without a ton of products. :)

Thanks for all of your input! I'll definitely look into some of these, especially the clear lipliners :)
