I have really dry skin, and this is what works for me! :) I apply a thicker layer of bio oil at nighttime, right before bed and wake up to completely hydrated, fresh, supple, dewy skin. Then in the morning, I gently exfoliate - rinsing my face with cold water to wake up my skin and shrink my pores & then I apply my primer & foundation. But Bio oil has been the only thing thats fixed my skin! After trying so many lotions, gels, creams, nothing was working, so I tried this on my face on a whim one day & its honestly completely changed my skin so much! It evens out your complexion/skin tone of any impurities (acne scaring, redness, splotchy/patchy skin tone, help even out combination skin- if you have oily/dry spots- this will hydrate your skin while stoping your own oil production, etc), heal dry patches & soften your skin. Apply it every night before bed and you'll wake up with gorgeous soft dewy skin I swear! Plus it won't ever stain your pillowcases/ sheets or clothes at all, it also helps anyone with really oily skin keep their own natural oil production at a minimum when using it nightly (which I'm not sure if you knew or not but if you moisturize with oil when you have oily skin, it will trick your skin into thinking its getting the oil from from somewhere else so it will stop producing so much of your own oil- but this will take about two weeks for your skin to get used to the change completely), & it helps fade any scars or stretch marks on your body... and within about two weeks you will see results- not to mention you have to use it everyday for a few months to get the results you want. You can't just use it once a week/once in a while if you're trying to fade stretch-marks, dark spots, or prevent/fade wrinkles, &want noticeable results. But when I say fade, I mean literally; gone! I've used it everyday during my pregnancy & it's completely helped the skin on my tummy not itch, the skin stay so soft and elastic, and keep it from looking like my tummy was ran over by tires lol, this stuff is god sent; literally! I personally like bio oil as a moisturizer better than Argan oil, coconut oil, vitamin e oil, cocoa butter lotion/gel/oil. These are all great substitutes but I've had wayyyy better all around results using bio oil, and I think that's mainly because of its ingredient list & it having so many good things in it for your skin! It has vitamin a&e in it, lavender, rosemary, & chamomile oil, as well as Purcellin oil which is what makes it a non greasy, more of a dry oil, and make's sure all of the vitamins& minerals are easily absorbed. It's also hypoallergenic and non-acnegenic, and won't clog your pores either, and how many other oils can say that!
Also I would strongly recommend you lightly exfoliate every day/other day before you apply your makeup to prevent those awful dry patches where foundation can sit in creases,( I love using St.Ives green tea exfoliator, it calms redness, it's very gentle on your skin, as well as the exfoliating beads are very fine but coarse for a smooth, flawless canvas for your primer/foundation) and you should definitely invest in a moisturizing primer. My primer also doubles as my daily moisturizer, this minimizes your pores and make your skin silky smooth, keeps your makeup stay put all day, and it puts a barrier between your skin underneath & your makeup- so it will help your skin underneath your foundation stay hydrated as well as keep your foundation from looking cakey or too thick- it's called Monistat chafing relief powder gel- weird I know, but it's ingredients are very similar to Smashbox's photo finish primer, except instead of $40, it's $5 @ Walmart! Its a serum based primer with silicone and moisturizing properties in it since its for dry, chapped skin, I even put it on my lips, it's very versatile. I would also recommend switching/ trying a new foundation, using a moisturizing foundation/ or something made for dry skin (and in your case you could use this on the dry to normal parts of skin and using a matte foundation on your t-zone- or a bb cream/ tinted moisturizer for coverage but set the more oily parts with powder). I noticed a big difference when I switched my foundation to Maybeline's dream smooth mousse- & make sure it says smooth, not matte. This moisturizes my skin but the finish isn't too wet/dewy/shiny, it's more of a satin, glowy look- the exact right finish. It will last well over 8+ hours and my skin still feels smooth &nice when I take off my makeup, unlike some foundations that feel like they've sucked the moisture from your skin & your wearing a mask almost, lol I don't know maybe that's just me. But this is what has really worked for me. Also, since you have dry-er than average skin, make sure you're sticking with products like oil, serums, gels, etc.instead of lotions & creams because these are more moisturizing for dry skin, these will actually absorb into your skin, rather than just sitting on-top of it like many greasy lotions. I hope this helps! Xoxo
