I have never tries any butter London nail polishes, but I think Essie is better. Essie has a wide variety of colors. The formula is great. That have a nice shiny, polished looking finish. I personally love Essie. Idk if this helps.

Butter london has pretty colors but the colors get dull and they run backwards.

Essie is really watery and cheap looking. I can't see why so many people like it. I can't stand it. Just my opinion.

Butter London to me has a more opaque coverage in only 1 coat.

Butter London lasts longer, has less colors, and is more expensive. it just depends on how long you want your polish to last

Butter! It doesn't have as much of a shade selection as Essie, but it is nontoxic and is very opaque. It lasts a while and the brush is VERY easy to use. It is more expensive but is worth the extra $$. I think both brands are pretty good still...:)
