I personally believe its important to buy cruelty free products and I'm feeling a little alone. Is there anyone out there that avoids buying products that have been tested on animals like me? Why don't people do this more? Curious =[

I am so glad I'm not the only one! As a strong animal lover myself I strongly hate cruelty products!

I buy those products, but honestly, sometimes people just doesn't care. It's a matter of personal opinion and it annoys me when people throw it the idea around like an accessory :(

I agree Dana. I think most people just don't realize. But I don't understand the ones that don't care.

Stephanie E can I ask why you don't care?

Yes, yes, yes! When I first started using makeup I didn't really have a clue that animal cruelty was an issue...I thought it was a thing of the past, or at least illegal! Obviously that is so not the case! Once I started researching things more I felt absolutely heartbroken about how many I things I had that had come from companies still testing!!

How do you feel about the cruelty-free companies branching out into China, where testing is often required?

Do any of you have know what brands don't test? I want to buy cruelty free products, but I feel like they're so hard to find.

Katarina - Try looking out for a leaping bunny symbol when going shopping for cosmetics! leapingbunny.org has partnered with quite a few of the cruelty free companies. You can go to their website as well! They have a list of all the companies they're partnered with.
There's also a list on PETA. However, just my personal opinion here, I often don't trust PETA all on it's own...so I always double-check them.

Basically, if you have a product in mind go and gather as much info on the company as you can! And be mindful of parent companies too. There are quite a few cruelty free companies owned by a parent company that still tests.

You might also try browsing some smaller, indie companies as well. There are quite a few good ones that are vegan, cruelty free, organic, etc.

Finding cruelty free products that work well for you can be a bit of an ordeal, but hopefully everyone will find it's worth it! ^__^

I will not buy a brand unless it is cruelty-free, and to push it even farther I try to stick to vegan friendly (not an easy thing, sometimes I have to stray). I wish that america would do like Europe and make it to where products that have been tested on animals can not be sold here, but I try to be thankful that we aren't like China at least

Katarina, there are sites all over the internet that lists brands, and you can also get the leaping bunny cruelty free app if you have a smart phone. there are more brands than you think, and easy to find, just get on google. A cheap example is E.L.F. (also mostly vegan line) then on the middle/upper end there are brands like Urban Decay, Too Faced, Sugarpill, and theBalm. and that is barely touching into the cruelty-free brands. You just have to be careful, some use products that have been tested on animals before they got their hands on it, just them personally don't, read everything, and if unsure you can always ask!

Shelly is right, be mindful of parent companies. Sadly Urban Decay did get bought out by L'oreal which does testing, some people are against it now, some people will still use it since the actual UD products cannot be tested (its in the contracts), I'm mixed on it because I do love the brand so much, haven't bought anything since though.

And I agree, I don't trust PETA, if you go through them, double check, they are known for being bought to say that something is cruelty-free when it really isn't. Also I just don't trust someone that says they are against all of that stuff yet do testing themselves (videos have been leaked on multiple occasions.)

I try to stay cruelty free, but there are some products that I really love that just don't have good quality cruelty free dupes to make it worth it. I do love my elf and MAC though!

It's the same thing with Mac. Mac doesn't test on animals. They were bought by Estée Lauder, who tests on animals. But in the end the money you spend at Mac goes to EL :/ Also the same with Neutrogena.

Most of my products are cruelly free but the ones that aren't were cheap as dirt. I won't spend more than 20$ on something tested on animals. Other wise I'll blow six figures on some cruelty free makeup. If I had six figures.

Shelly I am the exact same! Entirely same experience. And I do my best not to buy from companies that test anywhere in the world, although I do buy from cruelty free companies that are owned by testing companies. I feel like its my way of saying to them, I like your non testing brand, give me more of this.

And Katerina! The companies that I buy from are Elf, hard candy, wet and wild, NYC, NYX, physicians formula, urban decay, too faced, tarte, stila, make up forever, Kat von d, sugar pill, lime crime and occ cosmetics =] and when in doubt google!

If I find out take they are tested on animals I'm dead like dead I just really hate it when they use animals as tester :(

I love animals so much! So I try to buy cruelty free products! It also helps that my favorite brands do not do animal testing! So it all works out :)

I buy cruelty free! Writing a persuasive essay in English, mine is on animal testing! It's cruel, unnecessary, and actually doesn't work all that well.

Thank you so much for posting this. I honestly forget when I'm at the store getting my makeup, but now I'll make sure to buy just cruelty free products.(:

I completely agree. It takes longer to find a product, but it's worth it (:
