I'm about to start using retin-a tonight and was wondering if anyone has any tips or advice? I've been reading about it and am a bit worried about peeling, soreness, and dryness!

Start out using twice a week just so your skin becomes acclimated. A moisturizing spf of at 30 is a must for daytime use because your skin is going to be super sensitive and you don't want to reverse positive results from sun damage. Your facial cleanser should be super gentle as well...and fragrance free. I would avoid any toners containing alcohol as well.

Scripts vary by percentage and are serious game changers. Hope it works for you and Shelley gave excellent advice. SPF and moisturizer in combination with gradually acclimating your skin to it is a must. A pea sized amount for the face goes far. I highly recommend CeraVe hydrating cleanser. My derm turned me onto it. Gentle and moisturizing. My best to ya.

If you can just get through the first 4 weeks I think you will be happy with the results it will produce over time. It does take some time just try not to get frustrated and give up on it. Almost certain you will peel and you will seem dry, your not really dry, you are shedding layers of dead damaged skin and that seems to look and feel dry. RetinA is actually promoting healthy balanced skin if you keep it up. But if you do feel its a bit strong Rozberry is right, you can ask for a lower percentage on your script. There are some really good enzyme masks out there to help dissolve away all the flakeys. I hope they explained how and when to properly exfoliate while on RA. If not you should definently ask what they recommend. Should take care about all other facial procedures you consider during the RA treatment. I used it for 10 years and I say its worth the shedding times.
