Go from the light blonde to dirty blonde, to light brown, medium brown, dark brown. It really depends on how many colors you would like to do. Unless you wanted to do like red then you could strawberry blonde, ginger, and like a more like darker red on the ends. Totally up to you what color you prefer brown or red.

Doing just the underside of hair is called Two-Tone, not ombré. Don't let your stylist be confused of what you want.
