Hey guys! I have had hyperhidrosis all my life now and I'm 15. It didnt start becoming really bad until 7th grade. (By the way in case you don't know what it is, it's excessive sweating in an area) I have it in my hands. My hands become soaked and sometimes drip sweat even, and it very distracting, uncomfortable, and embarrassing. I avoid handshaking or touching people in any way. I was wondering if anyone else has it, or if anyone has a possible solution for it...help!?

Well I had extremely bad sweating under my arms, I mean extremely bad, I couldn't wear shirts. But I got a special type of deodorant, and I am completely dry for up to 72 hours and only need to wear deodorant every 3 days now :)

I have extremely bad hyperhidrosis under my arms. The best product I have found so far is called Certain Dri. It doesn't get rid of the sweating for me, but it makes it less of an extreme problem. I always have these super embarrassing sweat stains, I feel your pain, girl!

I have the same problem! Went to my doctor and he gave me a talk type or product for my hands however I still feel like I can't hold hands with people because I'm so paranoid. Other than getting products from th e doctor I think it is probably best to try and focus on getting confidence on the matter, since I got with my recent bf I have even reassured that it isn't disgusting an tht has helped me feel more confident and I don't worry as much, unless it comes to times where I need to shake hands with strangers ie at church but hey, everyone sweats so who cares what folk think

Okay so I found three ways for you. Warning: It does not completely get rid of it but it helps a lot.
Drysol - This powerful, prescription strength anti-perspirant packs a big punch. You'll want to speak with your dermatologist to get a prescription for Drysol. Once you pick it up from your pharmacy, read the directions carefully. It's a super strong topical deodorant that you put on once at night. Apply it to your palms and let it air dry before bedtime.
Now, a word of caution here. Drysol is VERY strong. If you use it for days on end, you may experience some stinging or irritation. If that's the case, simply spread out the days that you apply this topical.
Baking Soda & Water - This is a simple yet effective remedy to sweaty hands. Get a nice big plastic bowl and fill it with water. Add a generous amount of baking soda until the water resembles a cloudy mix. Soak your hands in the solution for 15-20 minutes. Do this for a few days in a row and you'll notice a significant difference.
Here's how it works. Baking soda is an alkaline whereas, sweat is an acid. When your palm sweat mixes with the baking soda residue, it turns to gas and instantly evaporates. This amazing combination will keep your hands dry consistently after repeating this treatment consecutively for a few days.
Sage Tea - Sage Tea contains high levels of Tannic Acid, a natural astringent. Fill a big bowl with water and add 4 or 5 tea bags (sage tea is preferred). Do this for a few days and you'll condition your skin not to sweat. This totally works, so you should try it out. Do the soak for about 20 minutes at a time.
Your skin may be a bit tanned after you take it out of the Sage Tea solution. Don't freak out. It'll wash away with a little soap and water.

Thanks Sarah b! And thanks Rebecca w!
And Meg K, I go to catholic school so we always have to hold hands in mass...and it's embarrassing if I'm sitting next to someone I don't know and when we are done holding hands he/she wipes off his/her hand. I feel bad. And my ex bf used to hate holding hands with me because I guess he thought it was gross. :/ ugh.

Addison, I know what you mean, my brother makes a massive deal about it in church and I get so embarrassed! As for your bf I'm sure you will find a guy who is understanding about it, as long as you are able to joke about it ten it should all be ok, I remember only holding hands outside in winter cos it was the only time I don't have wet hands haha. There are things you can buy called armpit shields which block sweat from your tops so you get a few hours without visible sweat marks
