Best thing to do is wear gloves. Good ole fashioned dishwashing gloves. Keeps from your hands drying and nails from chipping.

For a diy kind of thing, I always heard garlic mixed with clear nail polish did good. And wheb you soak your nails in a mixture of baking soda and water it makes your nails whiter.
