I have done tons of shoots and videos, did a pro course for six months and have been working with make up for years but... I suck at straight lines or making things even!
Winged eyeliner is impossible for me. I never ever get the two eyes to look exactly the same :s
Any ideas on how to improve my skills? I'm practicing on myself. Anyone else struggling with this? Up till now I have always been lucky to not have to do a bold winged liner but I'm dreading the day...

I agree with Jordan, I used to tap with the tip of the brush a dot where I wanted my corners and then check before applying. Keep in mind that since all "winged" liner needs to be adjusted on each person's face for their eye shape and bone structure to look good, there is no foolproof method to perfect this that you can use on every eye.
If it makes you feel better, I've been doing this almost 20 years and still goof up from time to time. Practice really does make perfect, so keep at it!

Thanks Inge I thought about asking the same question earlier today.

I found that when I make a mistake, using an angled liner brush dampened with makeup remover makes a fantastic "eraser" so to speak. Helps me clean up any lines and make them crisp. I also tried about a million different products and brushes to find the right combination for what works best for me. Don't be afraid to experiment! But I really LOVE Jordan's tip with using a lighter color first (or even eyeshadow maybe?!) and then tracing over. Any mistakes are less noticeable/easier to correct.

Try the spoon method! Super cool trick! I use to get the funniest looks when I pulled my spoon out in the club bathroom (way way to long ago *sigh) to touch of my makeup!
