Hi Genesis,
Since extensions do not receive the natural oils from your scalp that your real does to keep it nourished, upkeep is important. Granted, they aren't going to last a lifetime it is good to invest in quality human hair.
If the ends are dead, sometimes a little bit of a trim is necessary. Also, always use a heat protectant when using any hot tools on them. I like Moroccan Oil as not only is it a dry oil but it has heat protection and helps to smooth away flyaways and areas of dryness.
You can try using a deep conditioner on them but it really depends on the grade of hair you have. Even medium to lower grades of human hair are stripped of the cuticle to prevent tangling so the moisture wouldn't even absorb.
