How often should I exfoliate my lips?

I bought the lush bubble gum lip scrub and made the mistake of using loads of it because I loved the taste and as a consequence my lips were so painful! I would use it only when you feel you need to so if your lips are peeling or flaky! I use Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream on my lips so I rarely need to use it!
