How does everyone afford a good makeup collection? I LOVE makeup but I have a family. I'm getting tired of hauling my personal makeup everywhere to do others makeup. Please share how you build up your collection for your personal use and professional use. And how do you decide what to take and what to keep at home!

I'm a licensed cosmetologist and when I do weddings or prom hair or girls night out they always ask Me to do their makeup. I would rather have work makeup and at home makeup

I'm a licensed esthetician and get almost all of my makeup at a discount by signing up for Pro cards with individual makeup companies and attending makeup and skincare trade shows.

Dang! Hit send prematurely. Anyway if you have a certain client base I would start by making a list of things you need for them and slowly accumulating those items in a train case separate from your own. When I buy makeup I usually make a mental note of if I want it for myself or for my kit. If I want it for both, I just make sure I use sanitary procedures each time I use the product to prevent cross contamination.

I agree with Danika.. it also helps to buy things in kits or on qvc because you can get a bunch of full sized products at a discounted price. also, anyone who owns a loooooot of makeup can tell you that it took years to collect it all. trust me I understand not having money to just blow away on various items, but I also keep in mind that I can return things I don't like. I return anything that I realize I won't use. and every time I get paid or my hubby gets paid ( :-) ) I get one or two things that I've had my eye on. it really helps to keep your eye out for sales, coupons, and points systems that will reward you for your purchases eventually (ulta, Walgreens) good luck!
