A new law has been passed meaning cosmetics tested on animals can no longer be sold within the Eurpean Union.
I personally feel this is great news! All the years of campaigning by people has finally paid off! No more torturing animals :)

I read about it a couple weeks ago, I was pretty happy. Now I wish it would happen everywhere else. Sadly China is the complete opposite.

Unless they're stopping animal testing completely I don't see how this is going to do much of anything. Just not allowing products into a few places here and there is not going to do much. They need to just ban testing on animals altogether that way it's not an option for ANY cosmetics company. And as horrible as animal testing is I would not be happy with my government if they decided to limit my choice of what I can and cannot buy. If I want those one or two holy grail products that unfortunately are tested on animals then I should be allowed to make that choice. Until animal testing is made 100% illegal in the majority of the world banning the sale of animal tested products here and there is not going to solve the problem. It's dancing around it in my opinion. I hate to be "negative" and the bearer of bad news but in my eyes this isn't going to do much in the way of ending animal testing. Companies will simply just not sell their products to the 27 countries in the EU. I think we should be working on ending animal testing everywhere, not just banning products here and there. Maybe this will influence some companies to stop but I don't think it's going to cause any dramatic change which is what we really need.

I think its a good start, its better than having nothing at all in place. At least you can go and not worry about what your buying.

You still do kind of have to worry about what you're buying unless it's a 100% new product. From my understanding old products that have been tested on animals or contain animal products are not being pulled from the shelves and are being grandfathered in. So there's a loophole. Until animal testing is banned everywhere 100% you're always going to have to keep checking. At least that's how I understand it. I have read a few different articles all of which are saying slightly different things.
