I'm getting an updo at noon or one (dunno yet) at a salon less than five minutes from my own house, and I have to be at my boyfriend's house at four. It's half an hour to get to his house from mine. This is for a school dance, by the way.

Do your makeup before, just make sure its makeup that lasts a while, and you can even just do the basics before and finishing touches after:)
