Either get a super bright red and just slap it on there and hope it turns out rite or bleach it first then find the shade of red you would like. Red hair color is a color that you must keep up with or else it'll pretty much fade in like a month or two

Use loreal hi color high lights. You might have to buy more than one depending on how much hair you have. Then choose a 30 or 40 volume developer and it should come out pretty red. I had dark brown hair and go it to bright red without bleaching using that.

If it's natural black a deep red dye should be fine, if it's dyed black then get a stripper first to get rid of the black, then dye it.

I've had mine dark red various times and I've always used Loreal Ferria colour, they are gorgeous colours and work well over dark hair.

I love kool aid because
My hair is naturally oily I waste around $200 a month on "salon brand" so I try to pick up cheap. DIYs

You will have to pre-lighten if it's a true level 1 Black. I always say go to a salon if you're lightening! Way too much potential for failure.

Use Splat. It comes in crazy colors like green, blue, pink, purple and red. It comes with peroxide which is the lightening/bleaching agent. It will turn the darkest hair red. But get a good shampoo for color treated hair so it doesn't dry out!

If you're coloring your hair black you'll need to bleach it or strip the color out-anytime you're going lighter than what you have if you've colored it dark it won't work-hair color does not lift hair color. It only deposits color. Think of coloring with crayons-if you color with a brown crayon then use pink over the brown, the pink won't show up, right? Same thing with dye.

So strip the black and then die it red?
