I always manage to get mascara on my upper eyelids when I put mascara on after I curl my eyelashes. Then its such a pain to get off since I use a waterproof formula... Any tips or tricks to prevent this? Thanks!!

Wait until its dry then wipe off with a q-tip! But I'm not 100%sure itl work with waterproof mascara... But when it's dry it won't smudge all over when trying to clean it up

Take a small mirror, keep it under your face (but still keeping it visual so that you can see what you are doing while looking down) look down at your eyes and apply your mascara! works like a charm for me. (:

Well I use waterproof makeup wipes & if that ever happens, use the corner to carefully wipe it off. It's good to then put it in a plastic bag or somewhere it won't dry out so you can reuse it.

E.l.f. has a eye shield so the mascara doesn't get on your lids (:

You can always lightly place your index finger on the eyelid, don't apply too much pressure. Then apply the mascara. That way you will have a barrier between your wet lashes and your eyelid. It's effective and free!

Hi Emily,
Brittany's method is what most MUAs do. You can also do the classic, what I like to call "60's mom" way to apply, which is opening your mouth while you apply mascara. Your eyes then are naturally opened wider and away from the lid. Hey, it's shown like that in all the classic movies ;)

When your mascara rubs off like that it means your eyelids are greasy. It stopped happening to me when I started wearing a good eyeshadow. Try that and see if it helps you too :)

Use a blank mascara brush like you would get to test mascara at a counter. Rub that on the mascara on your eyelid once it has dried. It will come right off and not mess up eyeshadow.

Thanks everyone!! It's only really noticeable when I don't wear eyeliner, it probably doesn't help that my eyelashes are really long too.
