Which would you prefer to go to in NYC imats or Themakeupshow? I'm noticing a decrease in exhibitors at imats this year after purchasing my ticket, so I'm not to happy. I have noticed the awesome exhibitors that are going to Themakeupshow yet have not purchased my ticket yet.

Depends on what you want to get out of it.
I feel like IMATS has become more of a social event, while the Makeup Show is for more serious makeup addicts/artists. I'd go to the makeup show personally. There are also more brands available than at IMATS, for example more commercial brands like MUFE and NARS. And they offer discounts equivalent to those found at IMATS.

Pamela, I'm going to IMATS too. I'm in the same boat, seems like the exhibitor list is decreasing. Looking at the Makeup Show exhibitors I see more brands that I recognize.

If you are a pro and have the credentials to prove it, definitely TMS. I have no desire to stand around in line with girls whose mother I am old enough to be (gasp!) while they babble about what autographs they plan to get from whatever You Tube this-and-that they like. So in that I agree with the post above. Most of my colleagues attend TMS if they go to just one.
However, if you attend IMATS there are days/hours when only pros can get in, so unless you are dying to hear a particular lecturer, that's always an option.
