I tried dying my hair yesterday from dark blonde to a platinum color and it ended up kinda splotchy, with some areas the color I wanted and other areas looking more yellow. Should I bite the bullet and get it professionally done? Or is there something I can do to fix it?

Yes go get it done professionally. You don't want to risk damaging your hair.
